Do you give your real phone number for competitions?

Do you give your real phone number for competitions?

Perhaps those persons who rarely win are those who do not give their real phone numbers, because they are afraid of unsolicited calls from marketing companies?

What is your experience?

  • give my mobile but not landline
  • same here. get unsolicited marketing calls from mobile companies at unearthly hours but I just hang up on them. think you just have to be careful who you enter competitions with, like I only trust certain members on here and am cautious when entering competitions posted by people I'm not familiar with, cuz I know that people like kipper, fluffynit, and annieH check privacy policies before posting.(though nothing against anyone else I'm sure that you all mean well and are very genuine too)
:T Hail Kipper, and hail fluffynit for their endless hard work on the competitions board!:T

Usually my mobile number unless they specifically request a mobile number but don't have an opt out for SMS messages in which case I give the landline... Haven't yet (fingers crossed) had and unsolicited calls nor an increase in spam from entering competitions.

Do they provide some kind of "answering machine" to receive your calls when you are not on-line?

I give my landline number when I'm sure I won't get any unsolicited calls( ie, BBC sites and reputable companies who don't "sell" anything). I give my mobile number when I trust the company that I am entering the comp on, and I have a spare mobile number which I use for general comp entires where I may get calls that I don't really want.
  • i sometimes put my work number down on competitions
    Just about to give up!
