Really bad experience with Asda home delivery

Hi there. I just wanted to share my awful experience I had with Asda home delivery at the weekend. To summarise

-was supposed to be delivered on Sat night between 7-9. Phoned at quarter to 9 to say van had broken down (this wasn't the first time theyd phobbed me off with this story!) and the first slot they had was between 3-5pm the next day
- driver turned up at 5:15 the next day - after phoning 3 times for directions and then another 3 times because he kept locking himself out of my building on the way out to the van
- took half an hour to bring the shopping up.
- about 15 products not available
- after they'd gone realised that not only had they forgotten our freezer food, but they'd gave us 3 bags of someone else's shopping!

I was given £10 off my order but will not be using Asda again. We have had problems with them every single time and I just wanted to have a rant about how useless they are. Stick to Tesco folks!

You say stick to Tesco OP but in my opinion they are worse.

    Late deliveries
    missing items
    poor substitutions
    close to date items

They all have there good points and bad points, the only way to get it 100% right is to go to the shop in person.

    That's terrible OP!

I have always found Tesco to be excellent, was thinking of trying Asda for the prices but don't think I'll bother now.

Have to agree, I do most of my online shopping with Tesco's and on the whole its been ok, I had to shop once with Asda online as for some reason my card wouldn't work on the Tesco website and I wasn't impressed!

The driver turned up and started moaning to me that he had been in my area 2 hours before and had been ringing and ringing me to see if he could have come early, when i told him i has been at home all day he got more irate lol!
Then I discovered after he had left that all my frozen items had defrosted! Luckily I had not ordered any meat, but my pizza was soggy and the icecreams were water, very dissapointing. Won't be useing them again.

Asda are definitely cheaper and if you go to the store they are absolutely fine but it's the delivery that's a nightmare. And I have gave them 3 chances, this was not a one off. Each experience has been worse than the next!

I'm sure tesco, sainsburys etc can be just as bad but i personally have never had any problems with them. Oh and I forgot to add that twice in a row a tub of soured cream had burst and leaked all over my shopping. Useless.

To the person who said 'it's free stuff, what are you complaing about.' If it was just a bag of extra free stuff, then i'd totally agree but it's the fact that I stayed in basically all weekend for a delivery that didn't turn up. I don't think 'free stuff' always makes up for appalling customer service. They think they can get away with anything and fix it by sticking a 10 voucher on your next order so you'll shop there again!

Having worked at Tesco I can say with certainty that the vans were often breaking down, so it's not a "fob off" at all. Unfortunately most stores don't have a huge fleet to call upon, so if one fails then they pretty much grind to a halt unless there is a chance to get orders onto another truck, but seeing as they are usually already out delivering anyway that rarely happens.

  • I've tried all of the online grocery shopping stores and Sainsburys is the best for reliability and not substituting everything, followed by Tesco. Asda have always been terrible - they substituted minimum 30% of my order each time.
  • I have to agree with you, i have made 2 orders with asda because they are the cheapest to shop with but after those 2 i'm off back to tesco.
The first one they left all my fridge things in the van and then told me after 20minutes of getting through to customer services another van couldn't come out and bring them me. So ended up driving to asda anyway with newborn, toddler and 8year old in tow.

2nd order missed fridge things again, all kids food, yogurts etc etc etc. Same again with customer services.
wrote a letter to head office and 2 week later recieved a letter back saying they had put a ten pound evoucher onto my account.
Go to make the 3rd letter and guess what..... no evoucher.

Another letter now in the post and its bye bye asda from me.

In my opinion its Ocado that comes top

Sorry to that lauzt1987, sounds terrible. We also do our shopping online, but we mix up it. We've gone with Ocado, Tesco and Sainsbury's and I've got to say we've had the best experience with Ocado. Shopping arrives as ordered and the delivery person is always friendly - most of the time they call ahead to see if they can deliver earlier than booked. If I were you I'd get on ASDA's Twitter or Facebook page and say something, I'm sure it'll give them some food for thought - excuse the pun ;)
