Currency bought from Post Office online NO money taken from account?

I purchased euros online via the post office and collected them the following day.

The transaction went out of my account on the day I bought the currency.

This was done on Thursday last week.

Today my bank account looked rather healthy, i rang my bank and asked them were the transaction for this purchase as gone, they informed me that the payment was only pending and the Post Office never claimed the money and it was returned to me.

They informed me the post office would have to do a new transaction for this.

I have had the euros, what should I do? Should i ring the post office and ask them to re-take the money or should i just leave it?

I am going towards the side off caution and ringing up the post office and letting them know they have made an error, but i also feel maybe a bit of karma as come my way after losing all my spends on Crown Currencty exhange...

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Keep quiet, but put the money aside just in case
  • They Post Office can still claim the money. They have an authorisation code and a sales voucher that they can bank. I know on a credit card that its 6 years that a merchant can bank a voucher and take the money. I think its less on a debit card.

I would wait a while as once someone does an audit the money will leave your account.
