Consumer Unit help please!!

On Monday I have an electrician coming to rewire my kitchen and fit a consumer unit.

I bought a consumer unit a while ago from B&Q and got it out last night to make sure it was ok.... I am now very confused! It is a Wylex Main Switch Controlled Unit NH1104 and uses RCBO's. Is this ok with current standards or was I meant to buy one with a 100amp RCD??

I have been on the Wylex website and they have just confused me more.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Does it come with the RCBO's supplied? If so then that should do the job nicely.

No, I have to buy those seperately. Is that a problem?

I am concerned about the Part P certificate thingy (can you tell I have no idea what I'm talking about?)

No problem buying the RCBO's separately. So long as your electrician is registered with a competent person scheme (Elecsa, Napit, Niceic etc.) them he will issue the relevant certificates and notify your local authority building control department that he had carried out the work. The LABC then issue you with a Part P compliance certificate.

He is NICEIC so no problem there.

I was just a little concerned that mine had a red mains switch and in the shops now the have a black RCD switch.
