How to tell if electric oven is heating correctly

I know this seems a stupid question but I can''t tell if the oven is working correctly, it is heating up but things such as roasties don't seem to be the same as they were a month ago, is this something we can fix ourselves as it still works or any ideas for who I should contact and prices for fixing it.
Thanks

the two main cooker problems are the fan and the elements.
both easy enough to change and many parts are cheap, esp on ebay.
    typically 10/25 quid.

beware that some ovens have two elements, and only one maybe working correctly.
    Get some gorm.
  • Is there a way to test if it's heating correctly and would I need to call someone out to fix this?

Well one way would be to look and see if the fan is turning. Another would be to buy a thermometer in and check the temp against what has been set. Obviously if you did this you need to ensure you get a high temp thermometer! I dont want to suggest any other slightly more dodgy methods that I may use :-)

  • you can get an oven thermometer for a few quid in a kitchen or hardware store. That will let you check the oven setting against the actual temperature achieved.

don't use one that is supposed to go up your jacksie or at least let it cool down before you stick it up there.
