From card to key meter

Just had a letter from EON saying card meters are being phased out and being replaced with key meters.The thing is after reading through various forums it seems when these meters are changed over people are being charged more for their electricity.The letter also says that if i do not make an appointment that i will not be able to pay for electricity does anyone actually know when the cards will stop working?

Hi cherry1000,
The cards for the old token meters are being phased out as the meters get up dated to the new key meters, the time frame on this depends on your area.
The key meters are more accurate, as they send your meter reading back to E.ON when you top up. They can also pick up price changes electronically.
You will remain on the same tariff, so the prices will be the same.
