theory test problem questions

have a nephew taking theory test next week and just wondered what questions people found had stumped them on their test. I got stuck on a toucan crossing, came home from test rang driving instructor (he did not know), rang police they did not know but suggested only very recently introduced so not always informed(!! this was some time ago). So did you find your self well prepared but stumped by a question?

I'm sure I revised Toucan crossings for my theory test, which was in 2004. So they're not that recent.

  • Study the Highway Code. It is in that. :)
  • I was taught about Toucan crossing - think of '2 can' cross, meaning it is for pedestrians and cyclists...

Always stayed with me that one...

  • And a pegasus crossing is for horses - I know I thought my leg was being pulled at the time as well

I laughed at both the Toucan and Pegasus... but yeah Toucan is 2 can cross.. which is people and cyclists.

The only way to know which ones may trip you up is to do online versions, or a CDrom version a couple of hundred times!

I had a CD, which also had the hazard perception on there... which saved my life! I passed first time with 97%. The hazard perception is difficult, because you have to learn how to pass the test more than anything. Know when to click etc.

When I did my theory, the level of question was like:

Which of the following vehicles can display flashing blue lights?

    - Police
    - Ambulance
    - Taxi

When my younger brother took it, the options had changed to:

    - Bomb squad
    - Coastguard
    - Doctor
    - Mountain rescue

The answer to that one is just the bomb squad.
