Hi all
Right this is how it goes I've never had any credit even a bank account as my wages are paid into my mom's account, I used to be paid cash so never bothered with an account then when i changed work place which is the same place as my mom it was just easier to have my wages paid into her account and she withdrew for me to use cash as I always have done as I had the same predicament then as I have now!
I live with my husband and his mom and it's got to the point now where we can no longer live with her so wish to get a mortgage, however to do this firstly I need to build my credit surely?
So first things first I need a bank account but the only ID I have is a driving license and my car insurance I have nothing else at all, I have a PAYG mobile and that is it, also I've had to apply to go on the electoral role as I've since found out she never added me to this when I moved in 3 and a half years ago so I'm pretty stuck to be getting anything.
Does anyone have any advice who to open an account with who will accept these as ID and how I can start building my credit, should have thought about it before but life was simple then, I'm now 27 and want a house and child and to start managing credit instead of cash.
Thanks in advance for any responses

The list of ID requirements for the Cashminder account is here.
I would hope that if you had a regular income you would be able to open a standard current account instead of a basic one as no credit history does not equal bad credit history.
However, not appearing on the electoral register is quite damaging and so contact your local council electoral services department and fill in the necessary form ASAP to get yourself added.
Is your husband on the electoral register ?
I hope that he is but if he is not you should talk with her about you both being added to it as it may have financial implications for her regarding council tax.0 -
It was when i applied for a bank account I found out I wasn't on the electoral role, my husband is and he is also on the rent book and he pays council tax with her, I don't understand why she has never put me on we get on but she is a bit scitty(i don't mean this in a nasty way), I should have checked myself but never gave it a thought.
I didn't think I would be able to get a normal current account now because of this electoral role thing and never having any previous credit.
I've spoken to the council they have said the next update will not be until december so I might actually be showing on my files in the new year
Thanks for your help0
