Email suggests that if I don't enter within a few days I'll get an estimated bill.Fair enuf but ........... my online account page is showing " next bill expected around 15th November". Why the discrepancy??

I have had something similar. My guess knowing how the industry works is that you supply a reading (CoR) and they then send it to the Data Collector to validate it against you read history, DC sends reading back to Eon 'validated' and they use it for your bill. Hence the need to get it several days before your bill is due.

    Hi brewerdave

Either side of the set bill date is a period we call the Billing Window.

Meter readings received during this window automatically create a bill.

The time the window is open depends on the frequency of the billing. For customers with quarterly accounts, the window is open 14 days either side of the bill date.

It looks as though you're billed quarterly brewerdave as the bill date is 15 November and we emailed you yesterday for readings. This is what I would expect.

We will issue an estimated bill if the window closes and we haven't received a reading.

Hope this answers your question. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Sorry to jump in here, but I receive quarterly bills with my next one expected on 8th November, so if I submit meter readings this week then they will be included on my next bill?

    Hi gazsharpe

If your set bill date is 8 November, then meter readings submitted this week will automatically trigger a bill to those readings.

Hope this answers your question. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

  • I am currently on FixOnline V3 Dual Fuel which is contracted until 1st December. If I was to switch to another company this month would I incur the £30 cancellation fee as my notice period would take me beyond the 1st December.

    Thanks
  • no you wont get charged the 30 quid if supply date with new company is on/after 2nd december

    Hi Smoggie

As Airmike says, as long as you're still with us when Fixonline 3 ends, you will not be charged a cancellation fee.

Thought I would just add a bit of info about the final bill.

We don't give discount on a final bill when changing supplier. However, if you complete the full term of Fixonline 3, you will receive all the discount applicable to this tariff, even if part of this falls within the final bill.

Hope this is useful Smoggie. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

  • Thanks Malc. Prior to posting on here I contacted Eon through the my online account with the following query:

"I am currently on FixOnline V3 Dual Fuel which is contracted until 1st December. If I was to switch to another company this month would I incur the £30 cancellation fee as my notice period would take me beyond the 1st December."

The response I got appears to differ from the advice above:

"If you were to start the switch now you would received the £30.00 charge, you have a 14day cooling off period and then the process would start so this would be before the 01/12/10. I would recommend you wait until the tariff ends and then if you are still looking to switch supplier at that point you wouldnt get the £30.00 fee."

    Could you please clarify this.

    Hi Smoggies

    Sorry for any confusion.

Just to clarify, if you've completed the full term of the contract, you will not be charged the cancellation fee.

What happens is, when customers on fixed contracts start a switch of supplier, a letter is automatically sent out advising of the fee.

This is sent during the cooling off period so they can stop the switch if they are unaware of the charge and would like to delay the move to avoid it.

As your contract is nearing the end, the letter to you will be irrelevant as the move will complete after the contract end date.

Not sure, but I think this is what my colleague may have been referring to.

As I say, so long as the move completes after 1 December 2010, you will not receive the cancellation fee.

Give me a shout if you have any difficulties with the move or need any more info. Will be happy to help. Use the email address in my Profile if you prefer.

  • Strangely enough when I moved from EDF to Eon this year, I was told by EDF that if I commenced the move prior to contract end date, that counts as 'breaking the contract' and penalty fees would apply. This is of course nonsense. As long as you are still a customer by contract end date it doesn't matter when you initiated the switch. Seems that suppliers call centres do not understand this basic philosophy.
