NPower price scam - online 14 tariff

I've just spotted that my well priced online deal has been changed from a standing charge of £50 to nearly £250 plus the gas - this is with an online 14 tariff

BEWARE of older Npower tariffs - They have a nasty trick of raising the rates and hoping you won't spot it.

And not just raising a bit - but raising it to £100 more than a year than their current online deal

They are as bad as the banks at lowering savings rates to nothing on older accounts

Yup - I noticed this when I read my latest bill online, so switched to SOL19. For some reason they switched my electricity over immediately a few weeks ago, but the gas only switched today.

Simple, and £20 cashback as well via Quidco/Moneysupermarket. I'll do the same when SOL19 expires next year.

It is more a question of keeping on your toes rather than voting with your feet - every supplier does this, unfortunately.

Yup, I think its a hangover from regulations bringing the pre-pay meter types in line with 'normal' expensive standard tariffs they also have to put all their cheap online tariffs back up to the 'normal' expensive standard rate after a while too so they can be regarded as 'short term offers'.

No bother as you just need to switch every 18/24 months or so to make sure you perpeptually stay on the very cheap DD tariffs

How do you know when an online tariff is going to expire or go up in price?

I'm on NPower's sign online 18 tariff - i've spoken to them and they told me that they would have to inform me in writing if the tariff was going to go up in price or change - but something tells me that's not what's been happening to other people?
