ASDA car insurance - Warning new online apps

New policy with ASDA car insurance -
Should I cancel my policy and take the loss :(?

Hi,

I made a big mistake by signing up online for car insurance with ASDA exclusive online car insurance before reading the many terrible reviews around on the internet.
They are absolutely awful in my opinion and many others by the look of it!
If you've ever made one small type error in an online application be prepared to pay £35 with ASDA -FACT!

I was newly signed up for a new policy, one very small typo in my online application which did not affect the amount of premium payable, all correct paperwork and details supplied prior to commencement of policy. Four days after policy started hit with £35 administration fee !
They waited until after policy started (their standard practice)so that I could not cancel application within cooling off period.
Absolutely shocking! Warned me if I did not pay they'd cancel my policy, charge me £75 and notify all other insurers which could affect my ability to get insurance elsewhere.

It would probably cost me £100 or more to cancel my policy but if I stick with them it's £35 now and what would they be like if I ever had to make a claim? Have to decide by 9/10/10 or they will cancel it anyway.
How awful is this company and how can they be allowed to conduct business like this?
I looked at comments made on a review website and then realised how big a mistake I had made getting ASDA car insurance.
Am in contact with Financial Ombudsman and also sent details of my complaint and info on many others to BBC Watchdog.
It's a long shot but fingers crossed.

it was your mistake that they're now having to waste time on to correct. of course you have to pay for it. I admit that £35 sounds a bit steep, most places ask for £20-25 that I've seen. Wouldn't you rather pay £35 now rather than finding out after crashing that your policy is invalid as it has the wrong details on it?
