One of my two girls, Toffee is breathing more loudly than usual and seems to be stuffed up, she is fully vaccinated, eating well, bringing me home lots of "gifts", so she seems well but do cats get colds? She is two, and a cross Persian and Tonkinese.

you could try a steam inhalation (don't use anything too strong like Vicks or an essential oil as cats are allergic to some of those) or keep her in the bathroom while you have a hot bath and see if that helps.
Otherwise there's bisolvon decongestant but you'd need a vet visit for that.
If she's not off her food, normally that's a good sign, but if it goes on, I'd suggest going to the vet just to make sure.

Hi, don't want to pass the book for the answer but there is an excellent forum catchat.org its got some really knowledgeable and friendly people on there, im sure someone will have experienced this.
Sounds like it could be a slight respiratory infection? cats can also develop Rhinitis and asthma can't they so i wonder?
anyway the forum is very helpful :) hope your cat feels better soon :)
  • Yes, cats can get colds and other respiratory ailments.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • It's probably best to get her checked by a vet in case she does have a cold or infection, but my cat does this all the time. He goes outside, nips over the fence into next door's garden and drinks out of their fish pond. As he does this he flicks water up his nose and comes back home sounding like he's got a breathing problem!
