I ended an auction and forgot to cancel the bid

I just ended an auction which had a bid on without canceling the bid first. l like such a pillock 
I'd sell the item but the problem is I no longer have it. What should I do?

Just explain the situation to the buyer they may be ok with it or not maybe offer a token compensation if they kick up a fuss.0

Do you mean you closed auciton and sold to the highest bidder?
In that case you may need to be prepared for bad feedback as that does look a little odd.
