Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

Turbo diesels are more desirable and still return 55mpg
hdi 306 s can return 60 mpg :beer::idea: £2051.50 since Oct 25 2006Make mine a Golden £143.46

In my opinion, its a very good car - but I own one and have owned another. (Petrol versions mind).
As with all cars, they have there problems - especially the electrics.
Have a look on https://www.pug306.net for any information you need. Great bunch of people over there (including myself :P). Ask any questions they can always give you an answer (excluding myself :P).0 -
I am lead to believe that the TD can suffer from head gasket problems, which isn't cheap to sort out,but all in all,a good car.
My dad got a new one on an R plate,in 97,and it went like the proverbial off a shovel.
Ken.That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
All our family have peugeots ( how sad does that sound) 106 206 306 306 207 406 and my hubbys 306 diesel is fab it is a 2 l HDi but it is fab v reliable and we have never had issues though I belive you are advised to change the cam belt at 50k. Had car from almost new, it is better than my 206 and better than my 306 which was petrol. V econmonical. If you get one I don't think you will be disappointed. Only fly in the ointment for me is the £175 road tax.0

Ken.
Can i just state for the record, the early (1993-1994) k, l, m reg 306 1.9 diesels had head gasket issues. The head design was changed for late m reg on models. The d turbo is fantstic.
My partner has an r reg d turbo 306 and its reyrns 56mpg! £20 gives us up to 300 miles! Very quick too
Tip When buying open doors and check electric windows, central locking works etc, as the wiring loom is a little short and its a weak point at the doors, if suspicious walk away or haggle price
Cambelt should be done 80000, 55000 on the hdi, again haggle, service history important on diesles, every 6000 miles!!
rear wiper often wont work, due to water leaking in through spindle onto the relay which is housed with motor? Very odd, fix it by siliconing the spindle, to stop leaks!
good luck mate
ps diesles can easily doo 200,000 miles +
price guide m, n reg d turbo up to £1000, r reg facelift d turbo £1500 - £1800.
HDI £2500 on:idea: £2051.50 since Oct 25 2006Make mine a Golden £143.46

oh forgot to tell you one thing about 306's and I got this from the peugeot guy who suuplies our family. ( he is quickly becoming a family friend)
306 if it is the one with a/c they are prone to break and need reg re gassing which costs approx £60, both our 306's have had issues with it. I ahve had the diesel one re-gassed and it has gone again.
Going to trade in our T reg 306 tomorrow as OH ready for a change. I will let you know what they offer to give you an idea if you want0 -
Thanks tee pee, i bought the car yesterday and managed to get it reduced by £200, plus im getting a service, new cam belt, tax, mot, new cover for inside wheel arch (missing) and it is being valeted all thrown in for the price. It isnt the 1.9 turbo diesel just a 1.9 l and it doesnt have a/c.Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae.
