Ford Focus - opening bonnet - any key?

I know MSE isn't really a motoring forum, but I can't be bothered to register on a Ford forum just to ask one question resulting from our curiosity!
Our '02 Ford Focus uses a key to open the bonnet, you rotate the Ford logo on the grill and then insert the ignition key to unlock & open it.
Does anyone know whether the bonnet lock is key-specific, or whether *any* Focus key can be used to open it?

I think the bonnet locks are very key specific as otherwise one key could open any Focus bonnet. Would kind of deteat the security side of things..:rotfl:0

Should be the same key as the ignition, but most of the time they are full of c*ap from the road. Soak it in wd 40 and work the key back and forth.0

Thanks, but it's not actually a problem with our key opening our bonnet
Our car is parked on the road outside our house. When we left the house on Sunday lunchtime, the Ford badge had been rotated as if someone had wanted to access the bonnet lock, but neither of us had done it. Our car was parked where nobody on foot would brush past and knock the badge. We were wondering whether, if someone else had a Focus key from another car, they could have tried to open our bonnet.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

No. Would need to be the same key otherwise whats the point of factory fitting alarms and immobilisers?0

Having said that, any Ford key will lock any other Ford....As long as it's not the type of key the Mk2 Fiesta had where it seems different to all the rest.
Might be different now of course, but all Fords used to be faily interchangeable. Obviously once in a modern Ford you probably wouldn't be able to start it0 -

Depends how worn the key/lock are. My b-i-l's key used to unlock my ford sierra, but not the other way round (same type of key as focus)Never Knowingly Understood.
