Not sure where I stand on this....

I signed up for a free trial with Match.com but even though it wasa free trial I had to input my card details.

In the last week I've not been able to cancel my account (I had looked several times on the site) but there was no link to cancel the account.

I checked my bank account online yesterday and found that Match.com has taken £70 from my account (this covers a 6 month membership fee). They did not contact me to warn me that the time was up or to check I wanted to continue with the payment. Strangely enough, when I have gone back online I have very easily found a link to cancel mysubscription, but match.com say they do not give discounts(not even partial ones).

I have contacted my bank and they can't give a refund as the details had previously been given to match.com.

Is there anywayi can get my money back and what would happen if they decided to take any more money from me?

  • If the site won't budge consider trading standards.
You will have to explain how you looked at the site and could not find out where to cancel.
I have to say however that I found 'billing details' quite easily from the homepage and an address in the UK to write (or email).
Could it be that you were just late in cancelling?
  • Hi
Thanks for your reply. I found it quite easy to get to my personal and billing details, however at that point I couldn't find a link to cancel. I had actually emailed them before about this but got no reply.

I emailed them again last night after I saw the money had been taken but have not yet received a response.

I have googled to see if this has happened to anyone else and I've seen several websites with people complaining about match.com - and also where they have taken money after they have cancelled and refused refunds.

I am concerned that I won't get any money back and that they will be able to take money from my account again as they have my card details.
