I just set up a page about this: Unfairpak.co.uk to try and allow people to gather and share info. Any input would be appreciated.
Best,

Farepak have been reported all this week on Working Lunch (BBC2 lunchtimes) - if you go to the BBC website, you can probably see broadband video of the various slots:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/workinglunch - its the headline news today (Wednesday).
Their view is I'm afraid that customers will get nothing after the secured creditors (the banks) have taken their slice of any available funds.
What I don't understand is how a company that relies on regular subscriptions can go bust with debts of £60million if there has been no malpractice involved.0 -
does anyone know when Farepak first knew that they would not be able to honour their commitment to us ???
I have lost all my xmas money and im gutted.. single mum etc etc etc like hundreds of others.

Just got off the phone with my sister she's lost £ 900 with Farepak & park hampers. I'm just going for a lie down.   :eek:You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

I understood that this had nothing to do with Park Hampers.0 -
Hello there folks, I was a farepak agent for some ten years or so both I and my customers mostly work colleagues, family and friends have lost out when these bu----s went into administration knowing full well as long ago as December 2005 that they were in financial difficulties, also I read that they had not ordered any hampers from there suppliers, nor vouchers from the printers as probably neither would supply the firm, the bank Farepak used which was H.B.O.S. refused to extend them any more credit facilities as long ago as last June or July, yet Farepak continued to take customers payments right up till the moment they announced they were folding, no doubt the bank who incidentally made billions of pounds of profit in the last financial year will recieve their money. I find this particuarly distasteful given that they knew the firm was in dire straights, perhaps we should be directing our attention to H.B.O.S, who whilst I do not know if they have any legal responsibilities to the customers who have lost money, and were trying to do the right thing and keeping debt to a minimum at this expensive time of year, following the advice of Goverment and other bodies who have washed there hands of us after following there advice, or to use an old Scots anology
"HONEST MISTER IT WISNAE US".
Finally may I offer a crumb of comfort or a ray of hope to all of us who have lost out due to the behaviour of these organisation which while it may not be criminal it is certainly immoral in the extreme (Farepak actually took legal advice prior to making there announcment telling us we were basically getting
nothing, covering there own backs at the expense of those like us who can least afford it). As to the crumb of comfort I reffered to earlier my son phoned to tell me he heard on a radio news programme that those of us who had ordered vouchers for "Sainsburys" may get £0.25p in the pound back, I do not know if this is true or not and I have contacted "Sainsburys" via e mail I have had a response saying they would look into this and respond to me as soon as possible, I await this with interest.
Never give up the fight for justice whether it be legal or moral we owe that much to our children/grandchildren, family and friends all of who have lost out because of the unscropulus behaviour of these organisations who took our money while knowing full well we would recieve nothing, to end I would like to wish those in charge of these organisations "a very umerry christmas" and while they are enjoying there festivities over the yultide period I hope they will spare a thought (very doubtful as I dont think they can spell the word concience far less have one) for those of us who have to try and explain to our chilldren and granchildren etc why Santa does not have so many presents this year. Merry Christmas.0 -
It now appears to be confirmed that Sainsburys are going to give 25p in the £ to those who had ordered their vouchers.
Tesco are paying a sum of money (£250,000) into a fund the government is setting up apparently.0 -
I had no idea Choice and Farepak were related. Although it's nothing to what some have lost, I had the humilliation of trying to spend some gift vouchers in a very busy high street store, and being told they were not valid. I had been given them ages ago but how was I to know they were worthless? What an awful mess. I really hope those of you out there affected by this terrible business can try to have Merry Christmas. I feel terrible for you all.0
