I suppose it depends how much more her wages were. If she is just £20 over then she will lose the other £30 odd from CA.

We are only talking in the "financial" sense here.

The family earns more through wages.

The child is with someone they trust and the rate is reasonable.

Wife wins at work and becomes a reliable person to ask for overtime.

Child is somewhere safe and care needs are met.

I don't see a "lose" unless its all ££££ related?

Ah right so its not just a straight"your not getting anything" if you go over the £100?
Sorry Mr Star I may not have worded my other post properly, you won't get anything if after expenses you are still over the £100 a week. I think what I was trying to say was that if she just earnt say £20 over the £100, well she would still have the £20 extra wages but she would lose the £30 odd CA (does that makes sense)? :o

    Ok, thanks for being honest.

I can see lots of reasons why what happened is "in the greater good". (for your wife, the family and your daughter), hence why I challenged the "lose out" point.

Granted this may lead to a ££££ shortfall that week, but overall, and in the long term, everyone wins IMO.

  • I think if she earned over the £100 in a week she would lose the carers allowance for the following week only- but I am sure the form they send out has space to write down if you had to pay childcare costs etc , so hopefully that would be allowable and bring her under the £100 limit. They usually send the form out if you tell them you have gone over or have taken up employment.
