Can anyone help?
We have had two double french doors fitted by well known company!! (one of top two) They fitted wrong doors. Its taken a long time to get here, we started the process in February.
I rang last week as I had noticed there were no Shoot bolts on the opening door side, no mortice locks and the wrong space bar was fitted between the glass.... Alas the doors they came to fit today did not have these things on..
The fitter told me that this top company did not use shoot bolts on the opnening doors only on the fixed side... the spacebar between the glass was black and not silver he tried to explain how the colour can change with the white plastic, and I didn't even persue the mortice bolts that they don't do.
So, we still have the wrong doors in. I told him my hubby will go down to bristol to the showroom, reply was that the manager would come to us to explain the security on the doors, what security we only have 3 hooks that lock the doors.......We were led to belive that that there would be the best security on these doors. My old doors sliding patio had 4 hooks so I said why should I now want less!!!!
What are our rights?
We paid the deposit by cheque and the largest portion of the final balance by cheque too!!
Does anyone have any knowledge about either double glazed doors or what to do?
Many thanks

What did you agree with the salesperson - do you have it in writing? too late now, but you shouldn't have paid if you weren't happy0

The sales man who we first dealt with and the showroom assistant left the company 2 weeks after we sign. Most of what we asked for is on the scribbles upon their paper.
but some are not..
My main concern is not having the bolts on the doors.....which we did ask for. we have had 3 different people at our house, but have had no contact with the managers in Bristol who have been dealing with it...
I was not in when they had finished fitting and it was my husband who paid. but he kept £500 back. I said he shouldn't have paid, but all thing are wonderful in hine site...
We have never done this before either so are not on the up I suppose when buying like this.0 -
This is really annoying and why I don't trust salespeople - The first person we dealt with said that he was an ex-customer who was so impressed with the product that he became a salesman - that was 15 years previously - he was sacked the following week.
I'd contact Head Office - they are normally better than the local people. Have you still kept the £500 that might even pay for the locks.0 -
Yes..I was going to go to there showroom tomorrow and just have another look and ask general questions.
They wouldn't know me its been 10 months since we were in there showroom in birmingham and they concentrated on hubby mainly.
but we were past over to Bristol 2 months later don't know why.0 -
The only problem Is the fitter said that they don't fit shoot bolts on the opening door only the fixed one...
I know Everest do and local company near us do as we had quotes of them...0 -
Does it say anything about shoot bolts on your documentation?0

unfortunately not that I can see.... but the only reason we went with this company is there finish in the white.....
My son came the weekend and took the white cap off outside on the door, there are alan key holes for adjusting the doors in and out of the frame...
We said to the sales man we wanted more sucurity as some one tried to break in.. we only had four mortice bolts on our old doors..... now we only have 3....which is less....
I feel so stupid
we are going to write to the head office in Norwich,,,, but I don't feel secure. We still have the wrong doors fitted to.
the managers were supposed to ring us one hour later after the fitters had left last week. no phone call.... all I want is secure doors... I won't recommend this No 2 company to anyone who want security at all0 -
I am sorry, but I am at a complete loss here. French doors that are fitted to my conservatory have shoot bolts fitted to the door that locks in place. These are fitted on the side panel, and are obscured from view, when the other door is closed The other door then closes onto this and is mortice locked onto the closed door.
Now what extra sercurity would be given by have mow shoot bolts on the closed door, knowing that these are not obscured and can easily be released by a determined thief.0 -

Take it up with HQ - I used the same company after phoning their HQ. Prior to that i'd had load of problems with theirs sales people - one even swore at me. Their products are very good, and I'm sure they'll be able to fit the shoot bolts - unfortunately their salespeople like other companies are parasites.0
