Good point made by Kittiwoz, in EBICO buying out the carbon for good, tho would want re-assurance on the detail and maybe certificates are issued, thus entailing even more 'management fees'.

Not so up to date with the green energy, but Smile or The CoOperative Bank do ethical banking. I'm with the CoOp bank, after NatWest. Better customer service, lower charges, and the benefit of ethical banking.
  • Currently bank with smile and nationwide. All leccy comes from Good Energy and gas comes from Scottish Hydro's RSPB Energy which donates to RSPB. Pay a very small premium for gas and the electricity is virutally the same as the standard stuff as the price per unit is slightly dearer, but the daily charge is less.

Want to get solar panels too in the near future and complete the circle....start selling it back.

We changed to smile a few months ago and can recommend them as well.

You have an option of a "branch" should you need it, which is The Co-op Bank, if you actually "need" a branch then it might be worth checking that these one local to you.

Other than that, the account is completely on-line, no statements through the post, which is a good thing in my opinion.

You can print out a statement from the website, I think, should you want to, but I never have.

All Direct Debits/Standing Orders swopped for you. Decent interest rate as well.

    I like them.
  • You also have the Post Office to pay in cash (instantly), cheques and withdraw cash over the counter too. With all the current media frenzy about Post Offices, I think it's another way (a good way!) to support them by using them in this fashion. I really find it useful, esp since there are no Co-Op Bank branches up here.
