Confused! Have i been paying PPI?

Hi all - very new to this iste but have been reading all the stuff about PPI as i suspect i may have been paying it;
I have two credit cards Barclaycard and MBNA which i have had for years. I have been a relatively good customer, missed the odd payment deadline in 10-12 years but usually clear the debt at the end of each month, anyway I'm getting off the point;
I noticed that i have 'payment protection' still being included on my MBNA card and that up until about a year ago, it was also on my BC until (i think) i opted out.
Is the PPI that everyone is claiming back?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi Bill and welcome
If you believe the ppi was mis sold, then give it a go on the reclaiming.
And yes this is the ppi people are reclaiming back if mis sold for any reason.

You can do this by just completing the questionnaire, send to whoever set up your policy in the first place.
Remember to keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, they may write back to ask for more time, but if you hear nothing at all by then, complain to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Reclaiming questionnaire you will find here:

Good luck, please let us know how you get on, cheers.The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks - I'll give reclaiming a go - I'm pretty certain that in both cases it was added to my bills without my authority, but i expect i'll find out if that is actually the case soon.
Thanks again,

Well eight weeks came and went and i've forwarded the claim to the FOS. I'll keep updating if I hear anything.0

I would be interested to see the credit agreement for the barclaycard if u thinbk u had to opt out, its rare but not uncommon to have been presented with a card agreement whereby u had to opt out for the protection.0 -
I'm not sure i fully understand what you mean but i remember questioning BC re the insurance on my bill and telling them that i do not need or want the cover.0

HBOS & MBNA are now playing tennis with my claim as they say they were neither resposible for selling me the policy. Is there anyway i can find out?0

Update - Spoke to MBNA yesterday who though originally rejected my claim last november, have now upheld it since the judicial review. They said they should be getting an offer out to me via the FOS within two weeks! Are there any guidlines on how the offer is likely to be calculated?0

By this do you mean that the protection would have been applied anyway? I'm going to have a bash at barclaycard next. I'd been pating PPI to them for 16 years.0
