Moyra sounds like a real hoot, I like her!
    Best, L

    Morning L,

Yes. She's great in small doses! Perfectly pleasant until the teacher tone comes out (which it did at least half a dozen times yesterday whilst wrapping the majority of the Christmas presents).

    Cheers,

Glad Moyra enjoyed the fitba' :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hiya Gally,

I do like dooh nibor, poarticularly after tonight when I've done my damndest to screw an extra few thousand pounds out of a family trying to sell their dead mum's house (yes, particularly proud of myself as I sit here!!). I suppose the flipside is that if I let my heart rule my head then I'd be paying over the odds and that;s not the game at all. Maybe we got it really good with the first one; an elderly couple moving in with their son and looking to release some capital from the sale of their house relatively quickly - we get a 20% discount on the value, they realise a not insignificant profit from the sale and everyone moves on contented. I hope more are like that as we go forward as capitalising on the heartache of other people was always going to be a big issue for me - and this after sitting in a strategy meeting for six hours today telling people not to be such pushovers!!

Moyra is now the biggest supporter of summer football in Scotland! She has sworn that she will never go to another game.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hi TYO,

Thanks for popping in. There is undoubtedly a teacher tone (most often heard in our house along the lines of "how many times do I need to tell you?!" and "have you done what I asked yet?!", a teacher glare (I get that a lot) and enough homework (in my case, that's normally people I need to phone or email in a day with an added shopping list for good measure). I wake up to a to do list most mornings and, even when I don't, it invariably arrives via a text at some point in the day (that's another one - "why didn't you reply to my texts!?!? - I'm assured that the fact that the text required neither an acknowledgement or an answer is not acceptable). Today was milk, bacon and gammon steaks from Farmfoods, naan bread, extra christmas tree chocolates, birthday cards and eggs from home bargains and sour cream from Morrisons. Thinking I was done, I got abuse when I got in for forgetting to take in the Christmas cards which need to be posted - I'm now under threat of detention if I don't remember tomorrow!

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Evening All,

I'll hopefully stay awake to write this latest update as I'm properly shattered. The last few weeks are catching up with me and the list of things I've not done today include phoning back the letting agent, the Company lawyer and investor 1, producing a document off the back of our day long strategy session and completing my November expenses.

That's not to say that I've been idle. Following the strategy meeting and necessary shopping to satisfy today's "to do" list, I came home to help Moyra with a four course meal for Colin of the Home Improvement business (Company 2) fame and his girlfriend Gemma who I used to work with and who could well do a job for me in Company 3. I'm finding that doing all this business planning is an excellent release from the drudgery of trying to tie down a clear and comprehensive strategy at work. Colin and I have discussed me investing in his business and helping strategise improvement and growth so that's looking pretty promising. We're going to sit down this time next week to go through the business plan for Business 2 (having done the BTL business plan to death tonight) but it's looking promising - other that not having the first clue how to put a value on a business that is 1 part potential, 1 part owner skill and approach and a tiny part current turnover and profit...

We have put in an offer on potential property 2 in Shotts. It really breaks my heart to put in an offer well below market value (the seller's mum died in May 2010) but I need to keep my business head screwed firmly on as it's just a straightforward transaction (or not if it is rejected). We have another couple of potentials this week to look at (many thanks WC01) in the local area so the snow hasn't gotten too much in the way. It appears to have gone for the moment but, with it being a balmy -3 outside, I wouldn't bet on it being away for long.

I'll get back tomorrow with more updates as I'm literally nodding off at the moment. Hope everyone is grand, dandy and as tucked up in bed (doubtless with the erse-burner on at 3!) as I'm about to be...

    Cheers,

    Billy

  • Morning Billy, dropping in to say good morning entrepreneur extraordinaire. I think the multi stream approach to your business empire is the way to go, in terms of success. You will limit the risk of failure if you have a few things on the go at once. I have worked with a number of entrepreneurs and this seems to be a key theme.

However, and don't read this with Moyra's voice, you are setting off at a very fast pace and this takes it's toll on your mind and body. I wonder if you were to focus on your B2L and Colin enterprises more initially and continue fact finding for the other 2 enterprises, this may help you achieve your aims? You don't have a slow day job so it is pretty full on, and its obvious you have lots of energy, but you need to keep an eye on the stress curve.

I am not posting this in any negative way at all, simply by bearing in mind where you are on the stress curve, you can pull back, speed up, in a way which keeps body and mind in good health.

I certainly understand your feelings about taking advantage, but perhaps you need to consider if it wasn't you buying the houses, it could be someone far less honourable, who may want to fleece them:)

My very beat wishes and hope you slept well.
