Morning TYO,
What are you doing to that poor man now?!
The new car probably won't be for a few months yet. "Ted" is still going ok and has just been serviced and motted so no desperate rush - not for me anyway.
Mr TYO would really like the pub plans then! If we can sort out a games room, a mini theatre room, a sauna and a gym thing (most likely a fancy wii fit /ea active space), I'll be grand. If that means doing away with Moyra's library and massive walk in wardrobes, so be it....
To be honest, I haven't a clue. If today's site were to be perfect and we were able to agree something in the next month or so with the owner, we would have meetings with the planners, the architects, the bank and the builders. If we were to begin building in the spring of 2013, we'd be doing pretty well.
Cheers,

Morning All,
Somewhat predictably (and, indeed, as predicted), the first site wasn't up to much at all. It wasn't half as bad as I was expecting it to be but it just simply isn't big enough so the location, limited light etc aren't worth bothering about as they're very much ancillary concerns. We now know what a quarter acre looks like and it doesn't fir the bill at all in reference to what we're trying to do.
The good news is that the potential views down the road to Biggar are plenty stunning so we're hoping to get out to sites 2 and 3 this week for a proper look about those. A whole lot is going to depend on what we'd be looking out onto from the second (and third!?) floor of the house but I'm not against the area at all. Moyra, of course, is nothing short of foaming at the mouth good to get started to such an extent that she was trying to offer redesign ideas to fit the too small Penicuik site. Managing her is a batle. Managing a project will be a dawdle in comparison.
No great money news at the moment. We're back in the red in our credit card to the tune of about £70 which is much, much more like it for a month. When we get paid in the middle of next week, we should be able to knock off a big chunk of the acquired debt. The kitchen plans will likely get downscaled a wee bit now that we're more into the land buying and house building mode. We may just stick in a new cooker, new sink, new cupboard facings and a new floor which will set us back about £4k instead of the total replacement (£10-12k) option. In that we're really not intending to change the layout at all and that the cupboards are perfectly fine, the budget option ticks a lot of boxes. It does mean that I'll need to wait for my fancy dan big daddy cooker but that will just be an extra motivation to get the big house done.
Cheers,

Hi there Billy
Just catching up on your thread, it's all go as usual isn't it
When do you have your review with the Chairman? Really looking forward to hearing how your land viewings went too.
BTW, I nearly sobbed a couple of times catching up on your thread, firstly because I can see the tax man being your friend on more than one occassion (must update my thread about continued tax saga) and secondly because a library has been mentioned for the big house.
Secondly, because ever since being little I've totally lusted, yes lusted I tell ya for a library, it would have one of those upstairs balconys that you can either walk along and a ladder with wheels on so you coud whizz along the rail too if you wanted. Of course a deep armchair and a huge fireplace goes without saying!
Regards

Hi LP,
Yep, South Lanarkshire. We were in a wee place called Dolphinton, part of which is in South Lanarkshire and part of which is in the Borders. A bit more of a drive for me but worth it. We're still looking everywhere from the Borders to just above Stirling so a lot of options still to consider. Will post pictures of the sites we visit to garner opinion.
Cheers,

Hi ATT,
It's my tardiness that's holding it up at the moment. I want to get my recap documentation sorted before setting it up and agreeing my objectives. Big push on that tomorrow. It's all there - just a case of setting aside the time. It's been a big year with lots of changes in the place with a bigger year to come and, for better or worse, I'm now a big part of the operation. Challenging but enjoyable.
Sorry again about the taxman! He's being just about as nice to me as he's being hasty to you! I'll head over and catch up now on your diary. Moyra is all for (to go with her sex and the city walk-in wardrobe), a beauty and the beast central staircase and library (including the ladder). Froggy's library and lounge notion for the third floor has really taken hold. Need to get my design on again as adding a third level could reduce the footprint and cost by a good bit.
Cheers,

Em, I understand the 1st bit, but what's a city walk-in wardrobeA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Oh, 'sex and the city' walk in wardrobe, not 'sex' and 'city walk in wardrobe'. Hope Moyra has better taste in clothes than some of the frightful stuff SJP wears :rotfl:
