    Hi Spandles,

A warm welcome to you. The boiler, being a main player in the current sauna-esque environment, deserves it's place! The tiler finished today and things are looking pretty good now.

    Cheers,

    Morning All,

Inexplicably, we're on to day 7 of a 5 day project. The boiler is in and working overly well (control panel to regulate the sauna is going in today) and the old boiler is being shunted out today, the new bathroom is in and working grand (Moyra is particularly delightable with her shower and thankfully the jacuzzi jets aren't quite as dangerous as I had feared) with just the new mirror, unit kick plate and beading around the ceiling to be finished off today and the spare room is about 85% floored with the remainder to be finished today. Moyra will get her tutorial on how to clean the magnetic thingy and how to work the boiler and, come tonight, we can hopefully start getting the house back into some sort of order.

    End of day 5:

We were out at a wedding all day on Saturday so the skirt et al got it's first airing. Seeing as I'd promised a picture of the garb as it stands, here it is. The Dalmahoy has clearly taken a lead from the Vegas casino strategy of jazzy carpets to keep people awake - after a week of being up early and having the house in various states of disarray, even that wasn't enough and, shamefully, we only lasted until half eleven.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

    Morning Billy!

Great progress in your bathroom..It looks so much better than the original one.. What a difference!!

Our bathroom is progressing slowly, although we only have a single tradesman to do all the work.. At the moment we have a new toilet and shower in, the wall tiling is complete.. So we have the bath, the sink & units, the towel rail, the foor tiles & lighting to go in.. He might be done by the end of the week or early next week...

Loving the picture of yourself with the skirt.. You have a few female admirers in my office!!

    Cheers

    Holla Froggy,

Moyra has just sent a text to say that we're completely finished now. The house just needs tidying over the next few days. How the hell does one guy do everything? That's properly impressive. Thus far, we've needed the joiner/PM, his apprentice, a heating and plumbing engineer, an electrician, a plasterer and a tiler. We went a tiny bit over budget as the tiling was more complicated after Moyra had had a shot at designing the thing and the magnetic cleany thing was put in but, for a grand total of £8,100 (including the £400 for the bedroom floor and fitting), I'm pretty pleased.

Now that the big effort of the year is almost out of the way, I'll sit down at the end of the month to revise the SOA. October is still looking like the debt free month!

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Morning All,

Incredibly, we're onto day 8 of the 5 day project. The remainder to be done incorporates the following:

    1. Bathroom mirror to be put up
    2. Bathroom beading to be finished (one wall remaining)
    3. Bathroom door panels to be put on.
    4. Spare room skirting board to be finished
    5. Radiator to be put back on in the spare room
    6. Heating control panel to be fixed to somewhere in the house
    7. Boiler and Magna Clean gizmo to be signed off by the Heating Engineer (plus a tutorial for us both on how to work each)

All wee jobs but we still need an Electrician, Heating Engineer and Joiner round to tidy them all up. The Electrician is due presently and the other two are popping by tonight. We may get some tidying done before heading down to that London on Wednesday. This is a major necessity as the house is a tip!

Nothing major happening on the money front. Our credit card bill will come through tomorrow and I'll get £500 to it before the bigger payment goes to it at the end of the month. We need to clear it completely ahead of June which should be perfectly manageable but it sitting there just now at £5,600 or theeabouts is annoying me daily! Have the final £1,700 instalment to pay to the Joiner early next week which will complete the first renovation project and we're awaiting yet the first payment from Moyra's mum and dad toward the acquired debt.

    Cheers,

    Billy

  • All projects cost twice as much and take twice as long as originally projected ;)

You look very handsome in your KILT! ('skirt' indeed!) and I must say looking at clothes is more to my taste than looking at boilers. But I'm sure you are right and its a very attractive boiler :)

Loving the bathroom pics - hope it is finished by now! I think home improvements are the most frustrating things about home ownership - workmen always seem to take soooo long to do anything! Hopefully you'll be enjoying your amazing bath (not jealous in the slightest!!!!) this weekend!

Hi Billy, I've just been catching up on your thread and yay, finally, a picture of you in the skirt! The ensemble all looks lovely, I seem to remember you saying you liked the black one and that you don't see them around so much, I agree with that and like to see the black ones too.

Re the Dalmahoy, lol re the carpets, I've often thought that myself when there (I'm there quite a bit) although I do love their breakfast :D

I saw you were going to be in Birmingham, did you manage to get into the Mint there to play with the Apple TV?

The bathroom looks really great, I know it went over by a few days but I bet there are a goodly number on here who wished theirs had only taken 8 days, you do hear of some tales of woe when it comes to things like this, particularly when there a number of workmen / different trades involved.

PS, I'm with Moyra on the shower thing, it's good when they've got a bit of welly in them :rotfl:

    Regards

    Hi SSTS,

Thank'ee. The skirt has made another outing already and I'm well pleased with it. I've still to get the formal shirt / jacket piece which I think looks better but I do like the ghillie shirt - a lot more freedom for dancing! You'll be pleased to know that, having taken to heart the criticism over my bathroom pictures, I've cancelled my subscription to mylovelyboiler.com - you can't get away with any sort of perversion these days!! On the bathroom, the 12-jet jacuzzi bath is just about the best thing ever invented. I don't know how I've managed nearly 30 years without one!

    Cheers,

    Billy
