Amazon - wrongly listed

I sold a book on amazon but I've realised I've listed it as hardback not softback (I didn't realise until it had been sold - didn't know they did that book in HB either so was a bit shocked!)

I've offered the buyer that I reimburse monies or will send the book but it is a softback book, (sold book late Thurs evening, only came through email on Friday). I've emailed the buyer nearly 24 hours ago asking what they want me to do, i.e. reimburse or send book, but not heard anything from them.

I'd class it as a University book but have only ever seen softcover's on this particular book.

I intend to wait another 24 hours before I do anything as they might be in touch - got until Monday before I have to send it out so it will either be posted then or reimbursed before then.

What do people normally do in this situation? Only sold a handful of books on Amazon and this is first experience of this. KG

i think what you have done so far seems fair, give them until monday as you said and then if i were you i would send another email on monday explaining that you have a time frame to work to and unfortunately you need to refund them as you havent heard back from them.

I have had a couple of hiccups with sales and sometimes I couldnt get the email to deliver and there is every chance they wont even check their emails until they wonder where the hell the book is !!

Do not be surprised if you get a neg rating though...... no matter what you do.

I have only 2 feedbacks on amazon so not particualrly bothered if I do get a neg (would annoy me but I've done the mistake I should live with consequences) - I've sold about 6 but no fb's, trying to get rid of some of my uni books which have been sitting on shelf for around 10 years!

Would be more annoyed if I got a neg on my ebay account but that's used for various things, but wasn't getting many sells on uni books so put them on amazon instead.

I bcc'd myself with same email and it's not bounced back so hope that it's got to correct place and they'll read it today and be ok about it. Here's hoping anyway!

Did you check the ISBN number and see if they actually have a softback version listed? Might help

Have tried but can't find anything about a softcover, another one selling same book has put on theirs that the cover is creased and another one has a laminated cover. Mine wasn't even the cheapest on list either!

One number on book isn't being recognised and the other one brings up the hardback, which I hadn't realised when I put it on.
