my fave chocolate sauce is
a small carton of cream
a mars bar - small or large its up to you.
cut mars bar up then add to cream and melt very gently in a pan over low heat. keep stirring it. then as soon as it is all melted - its ready.
not sure if it will keep but cant see why not if poured into a sterilised jar and sealed.0 -

I once witnessed a chocolate fountain being prepared... they poured in half a bottle of vegetable oil. Somehow I've never been drawn to them since.
Back to the OP - I melt chocolate in a pyrex bowl in my microwave in 40 second bursts, stirring each time. I used to do it over the pan of boiling water but find my microwave works fine too!0 -
Same here. I've never really been able to stomach them since.0

I find that the chocolate tastes the same even with the added oil! But then, chocolate is chocolate!:j0

Oh the taste is the same. But it's the knowledge that makes the difference. It's like if someone dipped a slug in your tea momentarily - probably wouldn't affect the taste too much but 99.9% of people wouldn't go near it after that!0

Hi all, sorry to bother you but i was wondering if anyone could help.
Im looking for a chocolate sauce recipe to go with a chocolate sponge (you know, similar to what they used to serve up for school dinners). Ive tried doing a search for it but all im getting is recipes requiring actual chocolate...im after the cheap "just add coco powder" kind!
Thanks!0 -
If you want chocolate custard just add some chocolate to hot custard.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
Oh my goodness, i cant believe I didnt think of that! Im such an airhead sometimes lol. Thank you!0

If it's instant custard, I add a heaped teaspoon of cocoa powder to the powder and make up as normal - it's lovely0

Hi Trying2save,
The cocoa powder added to custard is probably the simplest way but there are some recipes on this thread using cocoa powder which may help too:
Chocolate Sauce
I'll merge your thread with that one once you've had more replies to keep the recipes and suggestions together.
