personal plates

OK it's not very money saving, but it is a way to manipulate a taxi licence regulation. we cannot have the word taxi / hackney / cab in our title. As well as this we can only have a sign on the front doors of a set size. So we wish to put on a private plates on our cars.

The question is do we go for one that is a general plate and resellable or one that has a slight link to the business. the numbers in question would be

1... BC ** CAB & BC ** CAB for the 2 cars or

2... * 200 CAB and same * 600 CAB

the difference in purchase price is approx £300

I wouldn't have thought it made much difference so go for the cheaper option.

Both formats would probably have good resale value to a cab firm or driver.

Can't you just put Private Hire and a phone number on the side of the car?

People see your number and book the car there and then!

LeeUK, we have our name / number and private hire on the doors. its amazing how many people ask Are You A Cab. I personally think it is an error on licensing depts, all cars, Hackneys or PH should have a top sign, the public should be so aware what is a licenced car and what is not.

Can you have the name of the company and telephone number on a sunstrip, my brother's are on the windscreen and rear window. They also have a sticker on each rear door. The company have about 35 taxis and it's easy to spot them when you are driving around.

Surely they are spotted easily enough anyway? They are the ones that go from warp factor 9
to 30mph with 20mm left to spare before they are in the gatso's field of view. Then vanish
into the distance as soon as they leave the marked area. Leaving fighter jets behind them wondering
what was it & where did it go.
