Your dad has been the victim of slamming (or attempted slamming). Someone applies in your name (signature forged if necessary) in order to get the commission. Any cold callers recently touting for switching business?
Makes sure he tells SP that the attempted transfer is unauthorised.
Either that, or a valid switch request has been allocated to the wrong account.

other thing it can be is a simple mistake made when applying for gas meter by co that are taking hsi supply on. If property less than 10 years old, probably has an IGT. loads of developers are really sloppy at updating addresses for developments from plot numbers to what the full postal address is as allocated by royal mail. Better off getting you dad to call power co taking on gas they will be able to give more detail, and confirm if they have set up anb account for his address or are taking on an address near by but cocked up and got wrong meter info, ensure he has his MPR to hand, this cvan be found on scottish powers gas bill (may be down as supply no)
