Ryanair airtraffic strike claim?

Last thursday we were ment to be flying back from Alicante after 5 nights at Benidorm to find out the flight to Teeside was cancelled due to strike in France. We were then given tickets to fly saturday to stansted instead of our original place of origin.
We had to pay to go back into Benidorm and pay for hotel for 2 nights, and also pay for a flight on sunday flying to newcastle with easyjet.
I also paid for a hotel near stansted airport for a night.
I am out of pocket a few hundred quid and wish to know where do i go from here, i have paid by credit card.
Also the flights were flying to Bristol and Birmingham that morning so why were we treated so badly.
