Fixed/Monopoly Pricing?
Hi there
I have tried all the tricks I know to get cheap tickets for a journey 20th November (split route, single tickets, types of ticket). I only ever get the exact same price no matter whose website I use. There appear to be no offers at all for my journey routes and I get the impression the prices are fixed.
Is there anything other tricks I dont know of or is this type of fixed pricing common?
I could not buy earlier as reliant on days off work etc.
Part of the route is an intercity connection is that why no deals?
Thanks for reading

Just because you can't find a deal for the journey you're looking at doesn't mean that there some sort of "fixed/monopoly" pricing involved.0

Hi Neil,
I understand what you say but the journey involves two different train companies and I am surprised that no one ticket operator in the market will make even a small reduction on one of the legs.
I fully support an intergrated public transport network but as there will be two of us on the journey its frankly cheaper to drive.0 -

Yup. Sometimes it works out like that. Public transport isnt designed to necessarily be the cheapest option.0 -
Fly instead, I wondered about the costs to fly to London from the Midlands.
Midlands to London was nearly £200, But you could fly from Cornwall (Newquay) to London for £1.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
