Free VIoP - That's Actually Free?

Hey,

I got into this whole VIoP think many years ago. I found a program called VIoPStunt.com which worked wonders, and it was free for 30 minutes a day, per account. (no need to top up in order to get it)

But for some reason, I tried looking for a program that would ACTUALLY allow me to make free local calls (London) but it would end the call straight away and claim that I've used up my free calls and I should top up credit which really pee'd me off.

So I thought I'd come here and ask the good folk if they know of any FREE VIoP services that actually are free without needing to top up etc.

Thanks!

I don't undertand. This wasn't the case a few years ago. So whats changed? Are you telling me the "FREE TO LANDLINES" is actually not free?

according to other sites you only get 1 min call for free then it cuts you off, to get unlimited calls for a month you have to pay 10 euros+VAT

I use an ATA and couldn't find any free ones.

I ended up going with VOIPcheap (one of many brandings of the Betamax company). With them I have to buy credit (for complex reasons you get £10 credit for ~ £13) and them you get 90 days unlimited free calls to UK landlines and can use the credit against 0845 etc. if you can't find a geographic equivalent. Once the 90 days are up a UK landline costs 3p per minute.

That probably doesn't work out vastly cheaper than many anytime calls packages but I'm on VM who charge £8 a month and doesn't cover 0845/0870 so it is cheaper for me.
