Word Press Widgets Not Working

Hi guys I've a bit of a Word Press problem. Here is where I'm at. I'm using
I wanted to completely update a personal blog and start over again, so I deleted the database, and deleted all the wordpress files via ftp. I then uploaded Word Press 3.0.1 with it's default theme Twenty Ten, reinstalled WP, posted a few dummy posts and went for a little hunt around the Dashboard only to discover that the Widget area doesn't work.
When I attempt to drag a widget they just don't move, you can't drag them, and looking over at the sidebar there appear to be widgets (search, categories etc) but they also are completely inactive.
Any idea of what's going on and more important any idea how to fix the problem?
