The cheap tablets are nasty. I wouldn't bother unless you really know what you are looking for.
As for the whole paranoia over open Internet access. Sheesh! People are so paranoid nowadays. As long as you use common sense such as having them in the same room then you'll be fine. Peado's are not going to magically jump out and carry her off through the copper wires!0
