Capital One Fraudulent use

in Credit cards
If you have a Capital One CC check your statement for an entry marked Afs. My card has been used fraudulently to purchase over £500 of stuff from them, and I had not lost it, nor had it been stolen.
The first I knew about it was when Capital One called me!
Does anyone know if I am liable for this?

No, it would fall under their/the credit card company's fraud protection. At most you'd have a small excess if they can prove negligence, though this is unlikely.0

Someone spent over £800 on my Capital One in September, they luckily refused a £8k payment!
After a phone call all amounts were creditied back to my card and I had to return a form they sent detailing the amounts that were not mine.
All very simple and efficient! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -

Unlike Barclaycard for mine, a local Indian takeaway mistyped (don't ask!) the amount for our takeaway so it went in as £9924 not £24. Not sure even a Premiership footballer could spend nine grand on a takeaway!
Barclaycard authorised it despite:
1) being cardholder not present transation
2) over my credit limit.
The restaurant realised their mistake immediately and put a credit back on but that took several days to appear in my account and meant my account was blocked as being over limit in the meantime.
When I called to complain I was told I was going to be charged a £25 over limit fee as well. Got that refunded but certainly shows that these fraud detection systems are not all they are cracked up to be!

In fact, when you include: the xxxx, xxxxxx xxxxxxxx, and a xxxxx , xxxxx xxxxxx this seems a very reasonable figure for a takeaway!in my spare time, i like to give advice on contract negotiation :footie:0 -

Based on your username, I'll take that as personal experience! :rotfl:Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
