What to do in Birmingham? Jan 2011

Options
Staying in Birmingham 2nd Jan leaving 5th Jan 2011.
Can anyone recommend some ideas on what to do?

Fun things, shopping, the "In" place to eat/drink, things to do and see??
Any ideas would be great both day and night.

Thanks in advance

Em

The Bull Ring and surrounding area is pretty much everything you could want for shopping and there are some places to eat too - unless you are thinking of ultra-high end designer stores in which case head for the Mailbox.

Visit brindley place, cadburys, millenium point and go on the canal tour, if you got plenty of time go 10 miles north to dudley and you got a zoo castle museum all to visit further out you could visit stratford etc.

For night life you got broad street the arcadian and plenty more

The Big Wok in Wrottesley Street has a great chinese buffet at £5.99 until 5.00pm and £9.99 after all you can eat.

The Art gallery has one of the country's finest pre Raphelite collections and a lovely Edwardian Team Room

A short tram ride from Snow Hill station takes you to the Jewellery Quarter loads of nice bargain shops.

Brindley Place is home to Petit Blanc and also Thai Edge two excellent restaurants and the Ikon gallery a modern art gallery with a highly rated tapas bar.

There are three theatres, the Alexandra, Hippodrome and Rep as well as Symphony Hall, Town Hall and the NIA all holding various events and shows.
