Barclaycard now do a soft search when checking if you are eligable for their card#

my question is, do other credit card providers do this yet? I'm not actually after applying at the minute but in 6 months time a 0% BT card might come in handy to reduce interest payments.
Thanks in advance

Barclaycard are the only ones that do this at the moment, although it isn't 100% accurate. Handy tool thoughCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks, personally I think it is a good idea. Not much use for barclays as I already have their platinum card. But with lenders being very picky over their clients these days it is only fair that they all start adopting a system like this. People should be allowed to shop around for the best deal, not be forced to have a maximum of 5 attempts in 6 months to get the best rate.0

There is another one which covers many cards, I can't vouch for it but you can find it here.

Like the Braclaycard version, it only leaves a soft footprint on your record."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

Just tried that one - couldn't find my details no matter which iteration / combination of flat no. and house no. I used.
Found my mother OK though; said her credit profile was good and she stood an 8/10 chance of approval for a Cap One One Rate or World card...
...Which I find hard to believe given she's very close to retirement and her total credit limits add up to about 80% of her annual income.
Ah well. Another useful tool I suppose and better than paying to see a potentially very inaccurate score!
EDIT: They search Call Credit, not EQ or EX; so the results may be quite inaccurate - a lot of card companies etc don't report to call credit.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Yeah they are pretty good if you happen to apply for a card that uses call credit or equifax, but i would say 90% of the market use experian so in a way not brilliant.0 -
^^ does that one leave a hard footprint?"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

I think this is better rather than they let us apply and later just decline it. For The bank, it is not the problem but for us it will severely damage our credit rating. You need to wait for a few years before we could apply the new one again.

Well they're inaccurate as you like... one suggested Egg and the other suggested Capital One One Rate to my mother; we tried them as she's got about seven grand out of interest free on her credit cards at the moment, egg was a straight decline and cap one was a refer.
Goes to show how inaccurate the data Call Credit hold and / or how it's impossible to create a "one rating fits all" model.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
