If this is the reception you get for trying to contribute then i can see its not worth the effort trying.

As for as a new user denied the function of posting links or images, that's exactly why you were denied. If you feel you have something to offer just remove the pretentiousness of your 3 line ' About the author ' sig line and continue posting.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. A .co.uk and a .com, good one Richie,
As I've said before, I'm always suspicious of posters who 'push' their qualies.
Pretentious, that's not a word we see often on here, but very apt anyroadup.:beer:Move along, nothing to see.0 -

HiYa spud lad
Many of the folk here have similar qualities / qualifications but don't feel the need to self proclaim their importance. The pre-determined use of that kind of sig line is intended to attract notice and impress others, in the same way and for the same reason that a prostitute wears a sable coat. Many of those in this group without any paper quals are by experience of equal ability.
Still as I said earlier if the O/P feels he has something to offer the group I encourage s/he to do so, after hopefully removing the ostentatious sig ! .

Spam or not, recommending DBAN for novice users is dangerous - people could easily hose their systems and lose all their valuable data when all they wanted to do was wipe one disk.poppy100

I suspect most of the posts above will have scared this guy off which is a shame. He might have contributed a useful series of posts.
I'm not a huge fan of flowery signatures but actually on this board it's not a bad idea to help filter out some of the flakier advice offered. They certainly don't harm anyone.
I think you could have given him a chance.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
Going back to the post, I remember the company I used to work for reformatted the drive about 7 times to clear the data of any files they had on it. Would that still be effective ( thought it still doesn't save any time )0

7 times sounds like an overwrite, rather than a format.!!
