hello all
just returned from furteventura last fri and all the kids that were on holiday with us i.e sisters kids have all got impetigo !!!!!! my little boys started off just as a little blister on his ankle from his new shoes rubbing and gradually since we came home has gotten bigger also were his armbands have rubbed he also had blisters these also have turned massive and are impetigo , my sisters little boy also has them around his eye amd my 6 month old baby has 2 on each leg , hence this was the only part of him that was in the pool , the pool area wasnt cleaned very often as we always sat in the same place and there were usually left over blobs of ice cream ect that the kids had spilt the day before ect still there the next day so it makes me wonder how often the pools were cleaned the reason i am writing this is to find out if there is anything i can do about it or rather the best way to go about things ????? as i am absoluttaly furious , the kids were bathed every single night ect any info would be usefull

Sorry but there is a lot of this around at the moment.
It's nothing personal against you but it is very contagious.
Part of life I'm afraid.0 -
It would be very unlikely that the kids got impetigo from the swimming pool. Impetigo is almost always caught from direct contact with someone with the infection or by touching a towel that an infected person has just used. Th emost common place children get it is on hands and face (as they touch others then commonly touch their face) but it can occur anywhere, especially if an area of skin has a cut or graze already.
We have had 2 children in our family this summer who caught impetigo through 3 different neighbours in turn and the first neighbour to catch it must have got it from someone else. There's really no blame game in this, it's rather a matter of trying to avoid infection once you know of someone who has impetigo already. The vicar at the end of the street is the latest victim - I just hope he doesn't give it back again to us!!!0
