The letter would not have been recorded delivery, I cannot see any reason why it would be.

Because it's a vitally important document?

Am very suprised that it isn't!

But it arrived safely so I cannot see a problem.

Even if it had been sent by recorded delivery, it would have still been addressed to your partner and opened by him, so you still wouldn't know if he's suppressed it.

You can't claim CA when you earn the amount that you must do, regardless of your drop in income, I'm afraid.

I'm not likely to find out either.

So, what kind of evidence would they accept?
The might accept a doctors letter - but again it depends on exactly why he didnt attend.

The letter was opened - he cant claim he wasnt made aware of the appointment. So it falls to the reason why he couldnt or didnt attend. Did he even try? If he didnt try then why not? If he did try then why didnt he follow through on it? Are the reasons related to his illness? Can the doctor confirm that it is related to his illness?

All questions that need answered one way or another.

I obviously haven't made it clear: I have no idea if my partner recieved the letter or not. He is also unlikely to know this.

I have never seen the letter, nor am I likely too.

Apologies if this wasn't made clear.

Oh I see, obviously I/we thought he had received the letter to go to the assessment.

    Where?

I said he'd probably opened it, couldn't cope and stuffed it somewhere. I have never seen the letter. If he did open it, I'll probably find it stuffed under something in two years time. It might never have even been sent for all I know. That letter has gone into the mist - if it even existed. The only evidence I have of it even existing is the letter I read today - stating that he failed to attend an appointment. The original appointment letter? No idea.
