cash abroad rather than credit cards

I am looking to be living abroad for 3 months in Asia. I will by paying for most things in cash rather than with a credit card. I was using the now defunct Nationwide cash card and I am now not sure which is the best cash withdrawl card for long term travel?
Thanks for any advice

Metrobank and Cumberland BS. But the former needs to be opened in person in London, and the latter is limited to the society's branch area. From 1 January, the Norwich and Peterborough gold current account which can be opened online.0

Maybe have a look at buying a cash card such as the one from ICE? It is a problem to carry cash everywhere as you do not feel confortable for a moment so these cards are a good option.
There are many others these days so do a google search and read through the small print. However from my recent experiences the ICE card at the moment came out tops.0 -
I also want to use my cash only so any advice as to what bank/card etc to use would be gratefully received. I do not want to use a credit card at all, I am having all my pay currently put into Nationwide flex account but reading that they are charging I want to change to a free/VERY small charge for foreign transactions as soon as possible. I am doing a round the world jaunt, and want the account/card to have the capacity for my parents/family/friends to put money into it (birthdays/christmas etc!!):beer:0

At least your signature makes some sense of your choice of card.0 -

Though I don't know how to explain the apparent blindness to your post.

Donnie,
what's wrong with the ICE card? Is it not possible for you to post a more constructive post to the people who need advice if your so sure my advice is wrong?
By offering the people who asked for advice a link which gives them many choices-not only the ICE card- I feel I have offered excellent advice-
I love my name choice by the way.0 -
As usual a genuine request has people jumping on to say rude/non relevant things. I wonder shall I just say, I AM THICK AS TWO SHORT PLANKS, and even when looking at the travel money section I dont really understand it as I read it was relating to credit cards, which I dont want to use, I just want to use my hard earned cash only and not pay too may fees for exchange/drawing out cash etc etc:o0

Hi I usually travel for long periods of time and have been in SE Asia for 2 months this year, I usually just take my normal cash card I know I get hit for about £2.75 charges each time, but the cost of living is so cheap I usually don't withdraw money that often.
I always take travellers cheques and stash them away with a record of the number separately, this is my super emergency back up funds!
Have a great time

Post 2 gives a complete answer to your question. Those institutions make no charge.
Next best would be one of the better prepaid cards (though I'm not sure if someone else can top them up for you) and next best would be to stick with Nationwide0
