Would you clean a house you leave?

We moved three months ago and we left our old place spotless. I too would have been embarrased not too clean it.If the world didn't suck we would all fall off

My poor mum's been given the cleaning job when we move
Got a feeling we'll be busy with removal men/driving over to new house. I hate the thought of leaving a dirty house and have always cleaned when I've moved - kitchen cupboards, light switches, the lot. Easy once all the furniture's out.
The house I'm in now was filthy. They left the oven (decent one - smeg - cost a fortune new) and OMG you wouldn't believe the state of it. Like something out of Kim & Aggy. Must have had an inch or so of fat on the hob and in the oven - some of it burnt/brown. Dirty, horrible, yuck. My mum (lovely mum!) knew people at the time who dipped and stripped metal so it all went off to the cleaning place and came back like new. God, the rest of it took some work (and physically turned my stomach!). I would've been sending it off to the tip if it was down to me. Sold it on ebay in the end for nearly £300!

Depends really. Time is the biggest factor.. I'd like to say I would always leave a place clean, but if you run out of time, what can you do.0

I thought this thread was about whether we clean the house before we move....0 -
The only example of the place being unclean when you moved in was from where the fridge would have been. Think about it for a second - you have packed and cleaned the place. One of the last things that may have been loaded intot eh van is teh fridge - oh look a spot of dirt well everything is packed now. What are you saupposed to do? As this is the only area you mentioned, mybe they did clean the place but simply missed the floor under the fridge?
On a related note - yes i did clean my place before i moved (cant remember if I did under the fridge though ;P). The people moving out of my new place said they cleaned it and indeed looked like they were cleaning when I was moving in. However it was horribly dirty imo. They couldnt of cleaned thre place very often, their definition of clean varied quite a bit from mine!.

Cleaning our old place was a nightmare. Mainly because our move was badly handled by the removal company with not enough staff and they didn't empty a room at a time so we could get in to clean. There was a limit to what we could do in advance given our personal circumstances (we weren't even living there for a few weeks before because of delays which weren't ours)
In the end, we went for doing something which wasn't strictly legal, knowing that our buyers were actually away, and one of us stayed behind after we had officially handed the keys back to clean up a bit more, but the whole thing was a dreadful experience.
However, I feel it is much more important for the place to be *emptied* than cleaned. The people we bought from had left so much stuff it was really hard to move in. If our legal firm hadn't turned out to be so rubbish at the end, we would probably have got them to take action about it, especially as we live a long way from a tip.0 -
I would clean before I left.
Moving into a house which had been cleaned, I would probably clean it all again away just to be sure."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
