Prepaid Credit Card

Options
My wife currently lives in America now I'd like to send money over in the form of prepaid credit cards however when searching I couldn't find any that would give additional cardholders. Does anyone have any tips to help me how to set this up?

You could get a normal credit card with a second card holder that she could use it in the USA and you pay off the balance in the UK, but that would incur the usual currency exchange fees and rates by the CC company, which don't work out very cheap and you'd have to mail the card over to her I guess, risking it gets intercepted.

Western Union is fast and relatively safe, but it comes at a price.

Direct bank to bank will probably work out cheapest, but can take anything from days to weeks on international transfers. I've found it takes 2-3 working days within Europe depending on how you set the transaction up, but to the USA could be a different story.

Paypal might be another option, though you'd have to check their fees and it would also take them 2 or 3 days to transfer the money from your wife's Paypal account to her bank account.

Your wife could also just maintain a UK bank account with debit card and withdraw cash on the debit card from the account at ATM's, this actually works out quite cheap as most banks don't charge transaction fees for this, they just use exchange rates that are in their advantage, but this still works out very cheap compared to the other options.
