Scottish Power

:shocked:More of a saturday moan than any real vent.

Just moved into a property where the electricity is supplied by SP and found out the electric is going to be charged at aprrox 13.50p per KWH with a daily standing charge of about 17p per day. I find they prices shocking but atleast it is only for 28 days until EDF take over.

The girl on the phone was very unprofessional to when I told her I was going to EDF she responded " Why they are the most expensive" and the are "foreign owned". I asked how she worked that out considering the electricity was 5 pence cheaper than theres she said " Aw well do what you want"

The sooner EDF take over the better and a bonus of £180 for going with them :D.

    they are "foreign owned".
    Genius.
Take it she didn't realise that she worked for a Spanish company, Ibedrola?
  • I mentioned I worked for BG and she said " aren't you being a bit of a traitor"..... Then had a bit of a !!!!! about BG.

as you said I don't think she realised Scottish/Spanish Power is foreign owned.

  • Scottish Power are a joke; someone put my name down for an account with them in a property I don't even live in. I never signed anything and the first I heard of it is when I saw it on my credit file and now they are expecting ME to prove I don't live there. And they're incredibly rude and offhand on the phone. I will NEVER become a customer of theirs.

  • Thanks for your reply. I have just emailed you as at this time the matter has not been resolved and continues to damage my credit rating.
  • I agree - have used every major supplier over the years and the only one I had major trouble with was Scottish Power - totally inaccurate bills and they are still hounding me and sending threatening letters over a year after I left them although I don't owe them any more money. Avoid.

  • Well, that was quick. My problem seems to have been sorted; I've been removed from the database. As long as the credit files are updated so it no longer shows up on my credit history and affects my rating, I am happy now.

In what way are EDF's prices not shocking? Gerrard, if you work for British Gas then you darn well know your gripe is about standard tariffs and is across all suppliers - not just Scottish Power. Your exemplar, EDF, charge 11p plus 21p 'standing' charge (on their two-tier standard tariff).

On the cheaper tariffs you are switching betweem to EDF have a higher standing charge / tier 1 prices than Scottish Power.

You can also switch immediately to Scottish Power's no standing charge standard tariff. Plus Scottish Power offer a prompt payment discount on their standard tariff - more than £4 per month for electricity, £12.50 per month if dual fuel. No such discount available from EDF.
