Game console- completely clueless!

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out, I want to buy a games console, but know nothing, and don't know where to start. Basically I want a console that has a kareoke type game, a guitar hero type one, a dance mat one and something with a hack and slash fighting type thing, which involves actually moving around rather than pressing buttons on a keypad.
I've never been interested in consoles before as sitting around pressing buttons didn't appeal, but now the games are more physical and interactive, I'd like to get one, but have no idea which is best for these sorts of needs!
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Samantha

Most consoles have these, but I imagine the Wii would be suited. Its more of a newbie console which is also interactive. However consoles are quite expensive and if you haven't had one before it could end up a waste of money! Have you got any friends who have them which perhaps you could borrow and try it out?

I would personnally suggest a PC, but thats just me. These days Core 2 Duo PC's (2.8Ghz) cost around £130 on ebay. Pick on up, slap in a powerhorse GPU and viola!

so how does that fit in with the remit?

You could get a PS3 which has the playstation move controller - Basically it like a wand and reacts to your movements. It also supports Blue ray so if you like HD movies you've got that option too.

Here is a complete starter package - http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/PlayStation-3/Sony-PlayStation-3-320Gb-Slim-with-PlayStation-Move-Starter-Pack-and-TV-Superstars/~r352131/?d=1z13fvgZ1z13mmtZ68r

You could also get a XBOX 360, This is a very nice looking machine, It has a bigger library of games and XBOX live is immense fun. Also in 10 days (10th Nov) Kinect will be released. Basically it's a set of cameras in one package that sit on or below your TV. You don't need a controller and every thing from dancing to playing games is all done using nothing but you're movements

Here is a complete package -

The Wii is ok but thats about it. It's fun for a week or two and then the fun factor dies off. The wii remote is not the most accurate. the graphics are terrible and it cannot play DVD movies.

IMO i'd have the XBOX all along. Kinect looks amazing and looks really fun to use. Youtube "Kinect" to get an idea of games coming out. They all look really good from dancing to fitness etc. The PS3 and Wii have them too but you still have to hold something whereas Kinect is controller free or in MS terms "You are the controller"

I have a Wii and it's been used about 20 times in 4 years, My PS3 was sold after 2 weeks as i didn't get on with it, but i've had my XBOX 360 since it's release 5 years ago. I've recently upgraded to the latest XBOX, the 250GB slim and it's extremely quiet, good looking, Powerful, And does not suffer with the overheating problems of the older batch.

These are just my views - People with XBOX's always recommend them. People with Wii will do the same and so forth. I've had all 3 and prefere the XBOX but you may differ.

Use youtube and browse the vids on all the consoles or go in store and try them out

    Good luck

  • Thanks everyone for your help...still not sure which to get but will look at youtube and offers etc
