EON Cancellation fee in last month ?

My EON online Fix 3 ends on 1st Dec. Since I will be away from mid Nov through Dec, I don't want them to put me on a standard rate, so I want to change to the Save online 4 tariff now using the online switch. Do you think they will charge me a cancellation fee to cancel in the last month ?

No cos you're not leaving eon just doing a tariff change, £30 only applied if your supply starts with a new power co before 1st dec
  • Thanks. I'll go ahead :)

Deffinitely? Never dealt with eon but i know british gas charge for moving between most of their tariffs however close to the end it is, or does this tariff not have cancellation charges?

If you switch tariffs with EON they MAY charge the cancellation fee - it seems to be "discretionary" - as confirmed by various EON reps on these forums - I've switched twice with EON in the past 14 months but not been charged.
I suspect that they would only start applying charges if a large number of people applied at one time and it was going to cost them mega bucks.
  • altho the wording is may be applied, how it works is thus: (all this is an eg) Fix Online 5 runs up to April 2011, but if you swapped in the summer to save online 2 which has no cancellation charge and discount expires aug/sept 2011, and then left eon jan 2011 while still on save onlien 2, you would be charged £30 cancellation charge, as the original tariff fixonline 5 had this charge and runs up to April 2011, so wehn you swapped offer Fix Online 5 on to the Save online 2, alth that tariff has no canx charge, cos the original tariff does and you're leaving the company before then, charge still stands. Still I have never known that happen, but that ios the official party line, so you can swpa between tariffs with impunity, if they have a canx charge it's not applied if just a tariff change, but may be applied in the future if you leave Eon before the tariff with a canx charge has ended

    Hi golfpunk,

brewerdave is absolutely spot on :T

As Stated in the T&C's the cancellation fee may be applied if you change from a tariff or switch supplier before the end date.

A number of posters have said they have changed the tariff before the end date and not been charged, but just be aware that it can be applied.

    Thanks

    Helena :)
