Hi, I have been wanting to get a price online but for some reason I cant seem to get quotes with Virgin for Mexico, it tells you to call them, is there a reason for this as I would like to take advantage of the 3% Quidco offer! Many thanks

I'd be no hurry to book holidays to Mexico because their tourist industry is going down the toilet thanks to the increasingly violent drugs wars.
That's not to say you shouldn't go because tourist areas , with the exception of Acapulco which has seen full-scale shoot-outs on the streets , are largely unaffected.
However, the perception of violence is hitting tourist numbers and there are bound to be bargains to be had.0 -
As far as I was concerend I havent seen any affect on the tourist industry in Cancun and the Riviera Maya
Not heard about any violence at all in these areas so nothing to be worried about, book early to avoid disapointment

Thanks to everyone for the fast replies, I can find where it shows Mexico as a destination but as soon as you click the button to check availability it tells you to call without asking for any dates etc.0 -
I had this problem with Virgin when booking to go to Turks and Caicos. I eventually did it through a travel agent and they said it was because I had to fly via Miami and it involved a different airline for the second leg of the journey.0

Has there ever been a travel agent in the entire history of tourism who has ever said " Don't book now, keep your powder dry. "
No, of course not.
The savvy traveller avoids travel agents at all costs. They're on a par with estate agents for telling the truth.0 -
Not every person wants to leave there holiday plans to the last minute!
The savvy traveller might feel confident booking something on there own fair enough, but travel agents are around for people who are not that confident booking on there own!
I would always tell someone to book straight away yes incase the holiday was to go.
If the cost of the holiday is good with the customer and fits all there needs then yeah they should book asap to avoid the holiday increasing in cost or going

Fact is with the economic belt-tightening coming up over the next few months I simply don't see the point in booking this early - prices will drop early next year as holiday companies rush to unload unsold holidays.
You know it, I know it, even the dogs in the street know it.0 -
Hmmmmmmm seems you have a bit inside information that I dont
I still say book early to get exactly what your looking for

Ive just posted the exact same thing on another forum about not booking now as prices are sky high at the moment have have been the last few months.
Understand what you mean about not wanting to loose a holiday but in my experience even the hotels that are no. 1 in the counrty can be booked last minuite, not all room cats are available but its usually the more expensive ones that go first.
Best time to book is xmas/new year or march/april next year for a summer holiday.
Prices are currently 1K more expensive on the hotels we usually go to and believe me they WILL come down to what we usually pay-they always do and we never miss out xx0
