I've recently registered a new domain with 123-reg (and used their free 1 page template for a quick website) then opened an account with dreamhost to host it.
Just wanted to know if I've done the correct thing to transfer the hosting from 123 to dreamhost.
All I did is log-in to my control panel on 123-reg and changed the nameservers to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com etc.
Is that all I need to do? Or do I need to change some of the DNS stuff?
I know a fair amount about PC's but this website thing is foriegn to me!!
Many Thanks

Why do you need dreamhost to host the page if you've designed the 1 page web site and 123-reg are hosting it?
Do you mean you want 123-reg to forward your domain to the dreamhost web site?0 -
Well the 1 page site isn't enough and it was cheaper to host at Dreamhost.
I've paid 123-reg for 2 yrs domain registration. So I think I just want 123-reg to 'link' with Dreamhost. Is this the same as 123-reg forwarding my domain??
As you can see "I am a novice"I'm just struggling to figure out how all this works....Many Thanks

Edit: actually I think you're right. Having researched this a bit, it's more efficient to change the name servers than to use domain forwarding. You'll need to wait up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to take effect.0 -
OK thanks. Thats what I thought....kind of...!
So are the nameservers all I change or is there any more complicated stuff involved?0
