Dulux paintmate - paint seems thick - HELP! ASAP please!

Bought a dulux paintpod with the obligatory paint (just 1). Going to mix Wilkinsons paint & the paintpod paint.

On opening the paintpod paint it just seems too thick to properly use with the paintpod. I've used a Black & Decker paintmate before - which I loved but they changed the sparklet bulbs so can't use any more - the paint with that was SO much thinner.

Have you tried & does the paint need thinning to work better? If you thin it have you had any problems?

Quick responses appreciated as just going to eat lunch & start.

I thought being thicker was the main difference between paint pod & normal paint. I read somewhere that normal paint splatters if you use it in a paint pod.
  • Well I tried with the paint just watered down a little & it worked fine - although it was a little heavy going. Hubby watered down further & it works MUCH better.

Auntie-Dolly - I think that must have been a post by the manufacturer, just so you won't buy any other paint than their expensive 'made for the purpose' paint. The Black & Decker paintmate system was the same - you invalidate their warrenty by using anything other than their paint. After getting enough of their 'buckets' to fit inside for many years we used ordinary paint thinned down with NO problems whatsoever. I'd still be using if Sparklets bulb tops hadn't been redesigned so that they didn't leak quickly all their CO2.

No splatters with ordinary paint thinned down. Just wish they did paint pads so you could cut in better OR I could find an adaptor to use my myriad of paintmate paint pads (bought on final clearance for pence) with the system. Anyone??

if paintpods were that great you would see all decorators using them - i've yet to see one , they are an expensive gimmick and a complete waste of time and money , i would take it back and see if you can get a refund and get a decent roller and pole
