HELP xp activation code

when my daughter starts her pc it just asks for activation code can not do anything with it ANY IDEAS

    where did you get the copy of xp from? you should get a code with that which you enter.
    otherwise you will have to get a new copy of xp.

    Is it the product key????? There are a bunch of codes on a little sticker on the side or the back of your pc. I assume it is that they want???

    It is a new pc?? self build? Did you install win xp yourself.

    As far as I am aware the activation was done on my win xp home without an activation code but a product key was required during installation.
