Train Fare Help

Options
Hello Forum
hope someone may be able to help.

In 2011there is a possibility my 11 year old son could attend a London Theatre School and we are trying to sort out the finances now so there are no nasty shocks.

As this is a private school he will not be eligable for any free travel. We live in Whitstable Kent and he will have to commute to London Victoria daily, and then catch the tube to marble arch.

What is the cheapest way of financing this and are there any bodies we can apply to in order to get reduced fares, or indeed any student bodies who support this

many thanks Andy

The London Theatre School is just outside Lewisham - are you sure you've got the right one? Sylvia Young Theatre School isn't far from Marble Arch.

It's Sylvia Youngs. He already goes there for part time classes.

A child season ticket for one month from Whitstable to London Terminals is £175.50 (not valid on High Speed 1) or £211.05 (valid on High Speed 1).

Adding a Zones 1-6 travelcard changes the price to £200.85 and £239.85.

You can get an 11-15 Oyster card for a £10 admin fee. This would give your son free travel on all London buses and trams (but not the tube).

I'm not sure there is any funding available from anywhere for children to travel to school?
  • Sylvia Young: The best thing to do would be to get an Overground train to Marylebone, then walk to get the 139 or 189 bus from Dorset Square. It stops right outside!!
